I am Dr Mukhtiar Ahmed, working as Head of Department of Emergency Medicine in Dow University Hospital (Ojha Campus) Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi, Pakistan.

I joined here in November 2016, when there were only 3 doctors in 24 hours, and there were only 8 nurses in 24 hours.
There was no porters and supporting staff.
I tried my best to develop the system, and now in our ED, we have 12 experienced Emergency Physicians and 32 Nurses,, providing best possible care 24/7 to our patients.
Also We have 8 porters, receptionists, OR Technicians, and other ancillary / supporting.

Our all Emergency Physicians and Nurses are BLS, & ACLS certified.

Our Emergency Department is fully equipped, and has all modern facilities, with backup cover of all the specialties round the clock.
There is appropriate documentation, with appropriate record keeping.

In this regard I am grateful to our worthy Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Dr Saeed Quraishy, our respected CEO Prof Dr Sohail Rao, COO Ms Iffat Swamir, MS Prof Dr Haris Alvi, and the whole team ED for there immense cooperation.

I strongly agree that COMPETENCE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE for which we are trying to start a structured training program in Emergency Medicine.
