The University Hospital of the West Indies Emergency Medicine Division will commemorate Emergency Medicine Day on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with a special webinar under the theme:
“Celebrating Emergency Medicine Day in Jamaica: How It Started, How It’s Going”
The webinar will feature presentations exploring the evolution of emergency medicine as a medical specialty, including its origins internationally and the growth and development of the field in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
Sessions will also highlight the establishment of postgraduate medical and nursing training programmes in Jamaica, along with educational presentations from physicians who have completed subspecialty training and fellowships in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, Point-of-Care Ultrasound, and Simulation Medicine.
